Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Re: How to Meet and Greet

I had been reading the forum occasionally for a few years, then one day I just had to speak up about what seemed to be an increasing amount of negativity in reviews and postings from the racist, sexist, homophobic, religious intolerant ah um and his many aliases. After responding to a rather hateful and incendiary review by mr Islam S---s, I posted an edit of my comments to the forum with a call for sanity and an end to such diatribes. This was my first post.

Perhaps I should have made my first post an introduction, as I was a bit surprised that some of the regulars questioned my sincerity by hinting that since this was a first posting by a new name, therefore I must be yet another alias of our most insidious troll. I found those responses to my post to be quite off-putting to the point of wondering why I should even share my thoughts in such a cliquish setting where newcomers were treated with such suspect. Since then I've been following the forum quite regularly and have somewhat tempered my views towards the regulars and can appreciate the open attitude of this unusual gathering of many stripes and generations of Dead heads.

Soooooo, I guess I should properly introduce myself sometime to shed any shroud of suspicion that may still exist amongst my fellow forumites. Don't get me wrong, I've had several pleasant, informative and rewarding dialogues with more than a few folks here. And in keeping with this thread, I'll say from experience that timing and first impressions can have an impact. Now that I've spoken my peace, I'll look forward to the many interesting and oddball topics and threads that make this forum inviting to a soul like me.

Oddball definitely seems to be a requirement! or actual psychosis, according to micah.
